Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Prep Course:

Scrum is an Agile framework for completing complex projects.  Although originally formalized for software development projects, the framework works well for any complex, innovative scope of work.  This course covers all aspects of the Scrum framework and is required to obtain the CSM from the Scrum Alliance.  The course instructor has earned the Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) credential from the Scrum Alliance.  If you are a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or team member, or someone who just wants to learn about Scrum, this course will teach you valuable skills that will help you greatly in your role.

Scrum training (or an equivalent agile training) is a way to prepare for the PMI-ACP® exam.  It provides an important foundation needed for preparation, and counts towards the 21 hours contact hours of professional education needed to sit for the PMI-ACP® exam.  Scrum training is also a way to maintain your PMI-ACP® because it counts towards the Professional Development Units (PDUs) you need to satisfy your renewal requirements.

This two-day Certified Scrum Master Training prepares you to gain your Scrum Master certification, and more importantly to utilize Scrum in complex situations and projects. Upon completion, you'll be eligible to take an exam allowing you to become a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), which includes a two-year membership in the Scrum Alliance, where valuable Scrum Master materials and information are available exclusively to CSMs.

The course covers the essential concepts and tools of Scrum, highlighting differences between agile processes and traditional "waterfall" methodologies and providing a roadmap for adopting Agile. The course also reviews the theoretical basis of Scrum, including Lean and the quality movement as well as newer advances such as Kanban. Students will learn how to apply Scrum to program and portfolio management at scale and how to lead development teams towards agile operations by managing product backlogs, planning releases and sprints, tracking and reporting progress, and conducting retrospectives.

This course is taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) with decades of real-world industry experience rolling out Scrum at companies ranging from small business to the Fortune 100. As a CST, this course meets the requirements of the Scrum Alliance for students to take the CSM exam.  Exercises, case studies, and examples are interwoven throughout the course to illustrate the principles being taught. Personal case studies are reviewed of how the trainer helped companies use Scrum on projects and organizations ranging from 5 to 5,000 people, and students will have the chance to raise and discuss their own situations, providing one of the most targeted training experiences available.
